Джеймс Ласт (Германия) - руководитель оркестра, имеющий большое число поклонников во всей Европе, однако в Америке пользующийся гораздо меньшей популярностью. Основа творчества Джеймса Ласта - аранжировка всемирно известных популярных песен в исполнении большого оркестра. Также широко известна серия его альбомов - "встреч". За всю музыкальную карьеру ему удалось продать по всему миру более 50 миллионов пластинок. Научившись играть на пианино еще в детстве, в юношестве он пробует и другие музыкальные инструменты. В 1946 году, когда ему исполняется 17 лет он выступает в составе Oesterreich's Radio Bremen Dance Orchestra. В 1948 году, на протяжении семи лет - он является руководителем Becker-Last Ensemble. Но начало было не столь удачное, как могло бы показаться. Первый альбом "Do That Thang" и 2 сингла с него "Do That Thang" and "Shirley" выпущенные в конце 90го начале 91 года , были настоящим провалом, Европа и ее музыкальный рынок не могли просто воспринять американский хип-хоп исполняемый Тони. Многие бы от этого опустили руки, но не Тони и Нози Кацман (который являлся композитором большинства песен) . 1992 год стал годом их прорыва на рынок, их первого успеха, восприняв уроки полученные в результате первой неудачи Тони и Нози решили изменить стиль проекта и избрали только начинавший появляться и набирать силу стиль Eurodance. Для участия в записи песен, нои пригласили, тогда еще мало кому известную вокалистку Nina, ставшую впоследствии сверхпопулярной евродэнс-дивой, голос которой можно услышать в песнях многих евродэнс-проектов. В результате, в начале года Captain Hollywood Project выпускает свой первый сингл с готовящегося к выходу второго альбома, под названием "More & More" . Успех был потрясающий, песня моментально взлетела на первые места танцевальных, и не только чартов Европы, она крутилась на дискотеках, ночных клубах, радиостанциях и по телевидению. В конечном итоге в годовом хит-параде синглов MTV "More & More" занял 3 место! Дальше - больше, сразу же выпускается второй сингл "Only With You" тоже выходящий на первые места по продажам в Европе. Вполне понятно, что второй альбом содержащий такие убойные песни, Captain Hollywood Project, выпущенный в начале 1993 года, под названием "Love Is Not Sex" был встречен на ура и разошелся тиражом почти полмиллиона экземпляров по всему миру. Следующий сингл проекта был выпущен в конце 1993 года под названием "All I Want" и в нем проект отошел от чистого евродэнса и перешел в европоп-попдэнс, данный сингл продержался некоторое время в хит-парадах Европы, но большого успеха не имел, ведь это была Эпоха Евродэнса! Зато следующий сингл проекта "Impossible" , опять вернувшегося в прежнйи стиль вызвал успех не многим меньше чем успех 1992 года, и третий альбом "Animals Or Humans" выпущенный в начале 1995 года, разошелся тиражом более 200 тысяч дисков. В это время Nina ушла из группы начав сольную карьеру, и ее место заняла новая вокалистка - Petra, а Тони основал свою собственную звукозаписывающую компанию и студию - "Hollywood productions" обьединившись с еще 2мя продюсерами и композиторами Tom Jacques aka G. Coin и Thomas Adler, вместе с Attack II. Несмотря на это Кацман все же был автором 4х трэков с этого альбома. Несмотря на все изменения успех все еще не оставляет проект, как часто было с евродэенс-проектами у которых сменились рэпперы или вокалистки. В середине-конце 1995 года выходят 2 потрясающих, быстрых танцевальных сингла с этого альбома под названиями "Flying High" повторивший успех синглов 1992 года и прорвавшийся на 1е место Европейского чарта и "Find Another Way"- поддержавший успех первого сингла, правда 3й медленный сингл "The Way Love Is" был крайне неудачным и фактически провалился. В середине 1996 года Captain Hollywood вернулся поменяв компанию на Mighty и обьединившись с 3мя новыми продюсерами P Force,Miles Gordon and Alex Belcher, но в остальном состав группы не изменился. И новый сингл с будущего алььбома группы под названием "Over And Over" был очень успешным евро-трэком. 4й альбом был выпущен в конце лета того же года под названием "Afterparty" под именем просто Captain Hollywood, без приставки Project, так как танцоры и др. в работе над альбомом участия не принимали. Это же означало что Captain Hollywood хочет открыть новую главу своей музыкальной карьеры. 2-й сингл с этого альбома "Love & Pain (remixed version)", альбомная версия песни была такая же по стилю, как и "Over And Over", но в сингле и видеоклипе к нему он обьединился с звездами евродэнса - Masterboy, но звезда евродэнса закатывалась и сингл провалился и в хит-парадах и в продаже :-( Captain Hollywood решил резко изменить стиль подстраиваясь под новые тенденции, и свой последнйи сингл "Afterparty" с альбома опять выпустил в резко отличавшейся от альбомной версии манере, но это не помогло и сингл опять провалился почти по всей Европе. продажи альбома были просто мизерные и обернулись гигантскими убытками. После этого Captain Hollywood замер на 5 лет...

The concerts were not a huge success: the Chinese audience were unfamiliar with the format and the style of music, and they only warmed to the laser show (which was very impressive at the time). The music was largely underrated, which is a shame as I feel that this CD remains one of Jarre's most impressive works. It collects together excerpts from five concerts that played in Peking in Shanghai.What makes this album stand out over his other material is the beautiful compositionsmore… he wrote to bring his western electronic style in harmony with a traditional oriental symphony orchestra. This is no better illustrated than on the track 'Fishing Junks at Sunset' which is completely mesmerising. Other new tracks he wrote for the concerts include an upbeat track 'Orient Express' and a fascinating piece called 'Night in Shanghai' which really does conjure the mood of walking through different parts of a hot sticky city at night, from the bustle of restaurants to the peace of sitting by the harbour. The final track, "Souvenir of China" is very moody, a slow burning track that suggests weariness, punctured with the incessant click of the Nikon. It's the most autobiographical track JMJ has ever produced.The rest of the album is mainly taken from 'Magnetic Fields' including a magnificent live version of 'Magnetic Fields 2' (which has since been re-used in many of his live performances). The first track "Overture" is a little bit of a cheek--it's actually a slowed down version of Magnetic Fields 1. There are also a couple of 'Equinoxe' tracks, but there are no versions of Oxygene on this album even though it was his most well known music at the time. The only track that lets it down, and one I have never really liked is 'The Last Rumba (Magnetic Fields 5)' which felt tacked on to the end of the Magnetic Fields album, and still feels out of place here.Overall this is an excellent album, and if you're a Jarre fan who doesn't already own it, or if you like classical oriental music, I urge you to make the purchase. The album features reworked versions of his golden oldies and three new pieces. The result of the new orchestration is a modern-sounding remix album, rather than a definitive greatest hits. The album was designed and recorded in multi channel surround-sound and is therefore presented on both a CD and DVD in the same package (including Dolby Digital and DTS tracks allowing playback on a standard DVD video player in 5.1 surround sound). Sound quality is top notch asmore… you'd expect although sometimes the transitional pieces between tracks overdo the surround effects for the sake of demonstrating the technology. The music itself, as a collection of greatest hits tracks, is a surprising choice, presumably designed for the best 5.1 surround sound. There's no "Revolutions", "Chronologie 4", "Ethnicolor", "Calypso", "Oxygene 8" or "Hey Gagarin", for instance. We are treated to fresh, excellent reworkings of classics: "Oxygene 2", "Equinoxe 3" and "Last Rendez-vous". Aging tracks such as "Oxygene 4", "Chronologie 6", and "Rendez-vous 4" have all been brought up to date. The three new tracks recall Robert Miles and Orbital. They're good but there's a feeling they were left over from previous projects. There are too many synth presets sounding too clinical and lacklustre compared to the high standard of sounds used in Jarre's other studio albums. Moreover, there are finer unreleased tracks that could have been included. Also included on the DVD is a visual track. A close-up of the actress Anne Parillaud's (Nikita) eyes while she listens to the music for the full 73 minutes in one take is typical of Jarre's subtle, minimalist and "non-MTV" visual style.
