В 1998 году начинающий фотограф приехал покорять Москву. Карьера началась со съемок Алсу и Жанны Фриске для журнала Cool Girl. Но самой первой знаменитостью, попавшей в объектив Широкова, была Кристина Орбакайте. «Мы вскладчину с моей одноклассницей по художественной школе купили фотоаппарат, родители ей на день рождения подарили объектив, и мы начали снимать, - вспоминает Владимир. - Однажды мы приехали в Москву на какой-то концерт и, проходя мимо служебного входа, увидели Кристину Орбакайте, выходящую из машины. Мы ее попросили, и она нам попозировала, и была очень доброжелательна, приветлива. Другое было время, 1987 год, все было проще. Очень красивая и трогательная получилась фотография! Все забываю Кристине рассказать, что именно она была моей первой звездой».
