Samurai Warriors 2 продолжает начатый в первой части рассказ об объединении Японии. Выбор героя определяет, предстоит ли повторить достижения победителей или же поспобствовать триумфу кланов, проигравших в реальности. Список бойцов скудным не назвать: как и в первой части, прохождение сюжетного режима за любого из доступных изначально генералов вознаграждается появлением нового играбельного персонажа, который, в свою очередь, также открывает путь к другим деятелям или дополнительным полям битв.
